Must Have Checklist For Planning A Wedding

No matter how much time a bride has to planning her wedding — whether it’s months or years — there will always be a mad rush as the date creeps closer to make sure everything is in place. So many details and so little time! To help out the frantic yet enthusiastic bride, we’ve made a checklist of all the big details that really shouldn’t be missed when planning a wedding from start to finish. And remember to check the important details twice!
  • Pick a date. Knowing what season the wedding will take place in will narrow down your choices somewhat.
  • Picture what kind of wedding you would like and write down your ideas. Traditional or modern? Colorful or black and white? Indoor or outdoor? Get a general sense out of what would make your perfect day.
  • Set a budget for the wedding expenses and honeymoon expenses with your future spouse and family. This is important to set early on.
  • Decide how many people you will be inviting. More people means you need to find a bigger space that can accommodate, but it also means more people to share the night with!
  • Share your wedding plans with your future spouse and your family.
  • Make adjustments as necessary.
  • Choose a location and a venue for the wedding ceremony and the venue. Go visit each location if possible before making a decision. Book the venue for the your date and the day before so you can set up.
  • Choose who will officiate your wedding and have a meeting to discuss what the ceremony will include.
  • Pick your wedding party. You can find bridesmaids dresses in sets and deals on multiple tuxedos, so you don’t have to choose between your closest friends or family members for best man and maid of honor.
  • Browse wedding dresses online and in-stores. Try on any gown you consider investing in to make sure it compliments your figure and looks how you think it does.
  • Order your dress early. We have a ordering date guide available for you to use.
  • Order the attire for the wedding party.
  • Create one or more gift registries, if desired.
  • Create a guest list and send out invitations.
  • Find out how long a marriage license is valid and schedule a day to pick it up well in advance but within the time frame of your wedding.
  • Hire vendors such as wedding caterers, photographers, florists and DJs.
  • Have the wedding and the honeymoon!
  • Send out thank you cards to those who gave you wedding gifts.
We suggest getting some help to plan your wedding, even if it’s just your sister or a friend. The process is more enjoyable with someone else anyway. Your helper just needs to be reliable, or else they may cause more stress! You can also hire the help of a wedding planner and pick their level of involvement. About a week or two before the wedding, call to verify the details of the venue, entertainment line ups, florist and caterers. That way the major points are reassured. And remember: even if something does get missed, or something goes awry, it can still be the happiest day of your life.
